You are a beautiful human being just the way you are. The original, one of a kind and the best of your name. Do not let yourself be fooled into thinking that you need to change in any way. You needn’t feel any compulsion when it comes to feeding someone’s desire of what you should be. If people cannot accept you-all of you- all of your flaws, your insecurities, your oddities: then you cannot let them make you feel like you are any lesser than perfection just because they don’t like what you identify as. If they cannot let you exercise the right to be who you want to be, then they do not deserve to be in your life. It is your right to be cherished and loved for exactly who you are and what you choose to believe in. No one can conduct your emotions or control your narrative for you. You are not duty bound to fulfil anyone’s expectations if it goes against your better judgement. You are especially not duty bound to anyone who will not return the kind of love and respect you give them. You must trust your judgement in all things, whenever you can. Forgive yourself if you fumble, because you are human and you are allowed to make mistakes, so long as you use them as a stepping stone and not a weight on your chest. You don’t need to ‘fit in’ or ‘stand out’ if you are not comfortable with it. Wherever it is you choose to place yourself, make sure you are at your most comfortable.

Your happiness matters. Your desires matter. You cannot sacrifice them or your dreams to fulfil another’s or to please them.

You are breathtaking, irrespective of whether you’re in your oversized hoodies, your worn out Converse or your best evening dress/suit and tie. You are beautiful irrespective of your clothes, your height or your shape. You are perfect because you choose to be yourself even when the world defines standards for every aspect of your life. You are brave. You inspire me with your ability to fight adversity time after time. Your resilience in not letting obstacles drag you down encourages me to come face-to-face with my own demons.

Thank you for being you. I love you.
