We hope these stories will inspire you and more young people to come forward and share their own, helping to break down the stigma surrounding mental health.

Tw depression anxiety You walk out with a prescription And three used tissues From the psychiatrist's room. You expect to be called crazy- Crackhead "Full of herself". But you call home anyway. Now you're a disappointment. "No one in our house has anxiety." "Depression is just an excuse". You feel like a tricycle That lost two of its wheels While being paddled through the mountains And somehow, it's your fault. The jury looks at you And then it doesn't- Like mental illnesses are communicable And an eye contact will land them in the psych ward. Your family would rather raise their ego right Than raise a happy daughter. You'd rather have a degree hanging on the wall You bang your head against Than a clean wrist. You'd rather be good at maths Than at English Because writing is not a profession, And without a profession, You're a loser. So you plead guilty, For a smaller sentence. You're guilty Of not having too loud of a voice For your dreams. You're guilty Of liking sadness. And you're sorry. Lord knows you're fucking sorry For not having a switch for emotions, For being mature enough to understand how screwed we all are And giving a damn about it. And you hear the gavel. Your sentence is depression. Your prison is your own pathetic mind. Therapy is a parole officer Knocking your bars down time and again. You're sorry But that's not good enough. Dead people don't come back- And you? You watched yourself in the mirror As your tears stabbed your eyes dry. You're a psychopath. You're a burden on this sunflower of a society. They send you to solitary confinement. And you take it. By Kash Sheokand (@snoutband11 ) #mentalhealthday #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #poetry #love #selfcare #anxiety
